Antique Miniature Tools

Framing Miniature Tools

These are a set of miniature tools which were an apprentice metalworker's project around the year 1937. As these were more than 74 years old, my customer opted for conservation framing, specially using UV filtering glazing.

An Antique Chinese Scroll

Talk about a framing challenge.

As this is an antique item, it had to be framed using conservation methods. The scroll measured about 1 meter wide x 1.8 meters in length. Mounting was the tricky part, not so much that it is an antique, but because of its size. To mount it properly and securely, I had to secure the timber bars using screws. Normally for conservation framing, we try to preserve the item as much as possible and avoid screwing, but I had to compromise on the strength of the mounting, so I decided to use this method instead.

Framing my first marathon medal

Marathon Medal

This first post kicks off my long overdue plan for my picture framing blog. I have been mulling over it for the past few months, hopefully I can keep the momentum going and post framing project here that may be of interest to you.

So, as the title says, I have framed my first marathon medal to commemorate the memories of when I finished my first ever full marathon. 42.2 long kilometers in the Sydney Marathon 2010.
