Framing oil on canvas on a floater frame |
| When I first saw this
is contemporary oil painting on canvas, I immediately
thought of framing it in a floater-type frame. I
selected a matt black floater profile from among my
moulding samples as this would blend well with the black
tones in the painting. The canvas was stretched on
kiln-dried stretcher bars, care must be taken to use
just enough force as we don't want to damage the canvas,
on the other hand, we don't want it to be slack either
since this will look ugly. The stretched canvas was then
carefully positioned on the assembled floaters and fixed
using offset clips. The back was sealed properly so that
dust and insects will not accumulate. Framing using the
floaters will not look good for many oil paintings, but
for this particular item, it is just perfect. |
