Lacing a cross stitch needlework |

|
Lacing cross stitch |
| This cute angel cherub
cross-stitch was stretched prior to framing using the
lacing method. The first picture shows the complete
framed package while the next illustrates proper lacing
procedure. Four strips of calico was used to extend the
edges of the fabric to facilitate lacing. This method is
proven to be completely reversible making sure that no
damage to the needlework is made. When framing precious
needlework, make sure that the framer knows these
methods so that the value of the item can be preserved
for years to come. Believe it or not, many framers
actually still glue the fabric to stiff board such as
MDF or plywood and this is WRONG in many ways. Gluing
permanently damages the fabric, and wood pulp boards
inherently have a high acidity which damages the fabric
making it brittle and yellow as it ages. Orlando Frames
are experts in framing and lacing cross stitch works. |
